• Be aware of your surroundings at all times.
• Wear shoes and clothing that are appropriate for the conditions.
• Lock your vehicle. Do not leave valuables such as purses, wallets or cell phones in plain view.
• Use authorized trails. Respect closures and restricted areas.
• Keep dogs on a leash.
• Don't litter. Pack out what you pack in (that includes cleaning up after your pet).
• Advise friends/family of your hiking destination and schedule in case of an emergency.
• Be aware of park closure times. Please plan your walk accordingly to avoid being on the trail after dark.

• If your smartphone is not showing your location check to make sure you don't have location access turned off.
• For iPhones, you can check under SETTINGS - GENERAL for an option called Reset Location Preferences (or similar).
• Once you turn on tracking walk around a little bit before pressing record. This will give your phone time to calibrate the GPS well.
• Make sure not to hit record until you have properly calibrated the GPS by using the 'show me' feature.
• In order for tracking to work well you must have a good GPS and good cell signal.
• Using the GPS will drain your battery faster than if you didn't have GPS on. Make sure to plan for this ahead of time so you don't completely drain your battery.
